Lunar Canals

Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old, give or take a little. Life in it's simplest forms started up some 4 billion years ago, and as the planet evolved so did the life forms. Evidence of modern humans date back around 315,000 years, though archaic humans are believed to date back 1.8 million years, with our earliest bipedal ancestors estimated between 4 and 7 million years.

Of course, without the building blocks of life, life as we know it could not exist. One of those building blocks is water. Water has been traced on the moon but to say it was the cause of these canals in this photo would be a stretch. Why? Because the photo was taken in my pocket by my stupid camera.

Can we be serious?
At Pocket Picture Taker we like to have fun in a very tongue in cheek fashion, but to we've decided to add a charity link on all our posts to draw attention to the work being taken by some fab organisations. We'll try to link it to the posts, so, whilst we're talking about "Lunar Canals" it seems obvious to refer to canals here on earth. There are some well known canals around the world, such as the Suez Canal, but in the UK we have some of the oldest established canal networks, so we're going to draw attention to the work of the Canal and River Trust. They care for a 2,000-mile-long, 200-year-old network of canals, rivers, reservoirs and docks because we believe that life is better by water. Let's help them to continue their work so we can continue to enjoy these blue & green spaces.
