About Pocket Picture Taker

Seriously, what is this rather odd blog about?

Well, we'd best start at the beginning. Or, in my phone's case, the end.

You see, several years ago I had an old mobile phone that I may have had for a bit too long. Towards the end of its life it developed a habit of taking pictures in my pocket. Thousands. They were mainly just black screen pictures, probably of the inside of the phone case or the darkness in my pocket, but sometimes there is something different. Often blurry but occasionally intriguing. I reckon a lot of the more interesting photos occurred the phone came out of my pocket and I scrambled to turn it off and stop it taking a stream of useless pictures.

Anyway, after saving all my phone photos to my computer I went through these random photos and thought, hmm, maybe there's a bit of humour in here. I can see some weird things in the photos, maybe everyone else will too. But I couldn't just upload the photos, I had to add a but of a background to the odd shapes in the photos. Hopefully when you read them you don't think this is serious.

So, it's really just a bit of fun, folks. These aren't really photos of planets, superheroes, escaped zoo animals or whales and bowls of petunias floating in space (that last one was was Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy).

You really shouldn't take this seriously at all - just enjoy it for what it is. Or isn't. The photos may be low quality (ok, they definitely are low quality), but, and its a big but, I hope you can see that there's some quality in the idea that maybe, just maybe, there's beauty in these grainy shots too.

I hope you enjoy this set of pictures.

Oh, and just to prove I can take good quality pictures with a phone (not THE phone), here's a couple taken at my favourite places in the world. Now that's quality.
